Tip #1. This may seem obvious, but are they licensed? You may check the Board of Chiropractic Examiners to make sure their license is active and exists in good standing.
Tip #2. Do they apply corrective exercises? In addition to chiropractic treatment, corrective exercises will speed up recovery and help improve the functionality of your specific condition. Basic stretching can reduce stress on the spine and serve re-injury prevention. That means doing exercises at home to help in your recovery.
Tip #3. Do they do soft tissue work? Your doctor should apply specialized stretching techniques to your fascia in order to assist in restoring a joint's healthy range of motion. The doctor may also use instruments designed to break down restrictions or scar tissue. Soft tissue work is a must!
Tip #4. Do they only treat symptoms or look at the whole picture? If they aren't aiming to treat the root of the problem, the chiropractor isn't the best choice for long-term success in recovery.
Tip #5. Avoid, at all costs, the "cookie-cutter" doctors who do the same routine with everyone. You must be assessed and treated specifically to your condition per the doctor's findings.
