What Is Chiropractic Care

We have bones and joints throughout the spine and body, and they are supposed to have a certain amount of movement. When their movement gets fixated, muscles start to spasm around these joints, and nerves can be compressed within the adhesions.

The goal of a chiropractor is to release fixated joints by adjusting the spine to restore motion. This allows the body to move freely and helps with nerve entrapments, sprains, and joint stress. We are trying to de-stress the joints by imparting motion through chiropractic adjustments.

We are restoring motion in the spine and also addressing the muscular and neurological components to help recover the body’s normal homeostasis.

Our Approach to Chiropractic Care

Chiropractic care is a blend of physiotherapy, soft tissue therapy, and chiropractic combined. The goal is to take away fixated joints and help them move better. Once we restore motion, we focus on maintaining it through soft-tissue work, rehabilitation, and postural assessment.

We look at a person from a holistic perspective and approach each problem with personalized care and solutions that work.

At Elite Chiropractic Beverly Hills, our goal is to fix the problem and reduce the need for ongoing treatment. The intention is not to have patients come in forever, but to treat the condition, improve function, and then transition to minimal or wellness care.

What to Expect During Your First Chiropractic Visit

We start with a detailed history and exam to pinpoint the problem. We look at posture, habits, and muscle patterns that may be contributing to the issue.

On the same day, treatment is provided to start recovery as quickly as possible. Based on the diagnosis and severity, we determine how often visits are needed. This may include rehab, soft tissue work, adjustments, or spinal decompression, depending on your condition.

It is a classic physical exam with orthopedic tests specific to the condition.

On subsequent visits, we follow up on how you are feeling since the last session and check for improvement or soreness. We continue treatment based on progress. Rehabilitation may be introduced as the body starts moving better.

Chiropractic Techniques and Therapies Used

At Elite Chiropractic Beverly Hills, we are very hands-on and use a range of tools alongside manual techniques. This includes myofascial work, muscle release techniques, and fascial work using hands or tools. We also use decompression for disc and lower back conditions.

The honest answer is a combination of many techniques and experience. Typically, it can be diversified and include activator techniques as a primary method, along with trigger point work and other techniques, depending on what needs to be addressed.

Chiropractic Care Patient Case Studies

Sciatic Nerve Pain Improvement Using Spinal Decompression

Chief Complaint: A patient presented in his late 30s, a pilot, who sat for long periods during flights. He started having difficulty sitting during plane rides. It was getting harder for him to work.

Diagnosis: Based on his exam, disc compression was suspected. He was sent for an MRI, and the MRI showed disc compression. Treatment included decompression for that area.

A posture evaluation also showed that his rib cage was shifted. Exercises were started to help realign his body. If the body is not in line, it can put pressure on the disc. Decompression was also suggested as it can help relieve pressure from the disc. In his case, a major part of the issue was the way he was sitting.

Treatment: He was taught to sit and move in a good posture. He was advised to lift properly. We also recommended exercises to strengthen his core and maintain proper alignment.

Outcome: Within three visits, his pain improved by about 90 percent with decompression and other therapies. That result is not typical for everyone. Sometimes it takes 12 visits or 15 visits.

In his case, he followed the treatment recommendations closely and saw results almost immediately. He also came in soon after the injury, which made the condition easier to treat.

Herniated Disc Pain Management

Chief complaint: A woman in her early 30s with a young boy presented to our clinic. She reported that her back started hurting after she lifted him in an awkward position. She was told by her doctor that she had a herniated disc that was causing sciatica down her leg.

Treatment: She first went to her existing chiropractor, who was trying regular treatments. He then referred her to us because she could benefit from the decompression table. She came to us, and we started her treatment on the decompression table.

Outcome: Within seven or eight visits, her extreme disability and pain went down by about 70 percent. She was able to move around and do what she wanted.

After finishing her treatment plan, she was about 90 to 95 percent better, with the potential to keep improving after a few more visits.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do chiropractic adjustments hurt?
Chiropractic adjustments are generally painless. You may hear a popping sound during the adjustment, which is completely normal and is simply the release of gas from the joints.

How many chiropractic sessions will I need?
The number of sessions varies depending on your condition. Most patients experience improvement after a few visits, but long-term care may be recommended for chronic issues. Visit frequency may vary based on severity, diagnosis, and whether the issue is acute or long-standing.

How does chiropractic care work?
Chiropractic care works by realigning the spine and improving nervous system function, which helps alleviate pain, enhance mobility, and promote overall health.

Our doctors also assess soft tissue, joint motion, posture, and movement patterns to support better function and longer-lasting improvement.

Is chiropractic care suitable for children and seniors?
Yes, chiropractic care is safe and beneficial for individuals of all ages, including infants, young children, and seniors, with adjustments tailored to their specific needs and conditions.

The clinic also provides gentle, modified care when clinically appropriate.

When will I start feeling better from chiropractic care?
Some patients experience immediate improvement after their first session, while others may take a few visits to notice significant improvements, depending on the condition being treated.

What are the benefits of chiropractic care?
Chiropractic care helps relieve pain, improve mobility, correct posture, reduce inflammation, and promote the body’s natural ability to heal itself without medications or surgery.

When should you see a chiropractor?
You should see a chiropractor if you experience chronic pain, joint stiffness, poor posture, headaches, or any musculoskeletal discomfort. Chiropractic care is also effective for injury recovery and wellness maintenance.

This can be especially helpful when pain has lingered or when previous treatments have not fully addressed the source of the problem.
