What to Expect at Elite Chiropractic Beverly Hills

First Visit: Consultation and Physical Examination

At Elite Chiropractic, your first visit starts with a detailed history with Dr. Jamie Mahtaban, DC, or Dr. Yuliya Gruppina, DC. They will evaluate your symptoms, daily habits, pain triggers and goals. They focus on pinpointing why the problem is happening, often looking at posture and movement patterns that keep irritating the same area.

A physical examination is then conducted to check posture, range of motion, tenderness, muscle tightness, and joint restriction.

If appropriate, imaging may be recommended; for pregnant patients, exams are modified and X-rays are typically avoided unless clearly warranted.

Second Visit: Reviewing Clinical Findings and Starting Care

On the second visit, we review what was found and explain how it connects to your pain or limitations. Dr. Mahtaban typically outlines a plan that may include joint-specific adjustments, myofascial/trigger-point work, rehab, and postural coaching.

If disc-related low back pain is suspected, he may discuss whether spinal decompression is appropriate as part of care.

For pregnant patients, Dr. Gruppina uses gentle approaches such as diversified, trigger-point work, and SOT blocks when appropriate.

Follow-up Visits: Tracking Progress and Supporting Recovery

Follow-up visits are used to track what is changing your pain levels, mobility, function, and how your body responds between appointments. Dr. Mahtaban typically introduces rehabilitation once your movement has improved, as strengthening poor movement patterns too early can worsen the problem.

Visits may include specific adjustments to improve joint motion, soft-tissue therapy to reduce tension, decompression when appropriate, and guided exercises to build long-term stability.

What to Expect During Your First Adjustments

  • Review before treatment: Our doctors will briefly review your exam findings and confirm the specific joints that require correction before beginning the adjustment.
  • Focused spinal adjustment: The adjustment is performed only at restricted areas to restore proper motion and nerve communication.
  • What it feels like: Most patients feel light pressure and a quick movement. A small popping sound may occur and is normal. Some people experience mild soreness afterward.
  • Home guidance: You will receive clear instructions on posture, daily movement habits, or simple exercises to help the adjustment hold and support recovery.
